Rockdale Musical Society proudly presented "9 to 5 The Musical" at Rockdale Town Hall from May 3rd to May 11th, 2024. This high-spirited production, based on the 1980 hit movie and featuring music and lyrics by Dolly Parton, brought a tale of female empowerment and camaraderie to life on stage. The story follows three dynamic women, Violet, Judy, and Doralee, who work tirelessly under their oppressive boss, Franklin Hart Jr., and concoct a plan to take control of their company and transform their workplace into a more humane and equitable environment.

Under the direction of Lara Mulcahy, with choreography by Kate Anthonisz and musical direction by Osibi Akerejola, this  rendition of "9 to 5" captured the humor, energy, and heart of the original musical. The talented cast delivered standout performances, with electrifying dance numbers and powerful vocal arrangements that had audiences tapping their feet and cheering in their seats. The vibrant set design and period-appropriate costumes transported viewers straight into the late 1970s, enhancing the immersive experience of this beloved musical comedy.
